Creating Work Orders
Create one-time or recurring work orders with clients, sites, schedules, assignments, and line items.
Creating Work Orders
Creating a work order is how you set up a new job in Simple Time. You can create work orders from the dashboard or from the work orders page.
How to Create a Work Order
- Click New Work Order from the work orders page or dashboard.
- Fill in the work order details.
- Click Save to create the work order.
Work Order Fields
Title
Give the work order a clear, descriptive title so your team knows what the job is at a glance. For example, "Weekly Office Cleaning" or "Emergency Pipe Repair."
Client
Select the client this job is for. If the client does not exist yet, you can create a new client directly from the work order form.
Site
Choose the job site where the work will take place. Sites are locations associated with a client, such as an office building, a residential address, or a warehouse.
Description
Add any additional details about the job. This might include special instructions, access codes, equipment needed, or notes from the client.
Line Items
Break down the job into individual line items. Each line item can represent a task, a service, or a material. You can set a description and cost for each item, which helps with tracking and invoicing.
Schedule and Recurrence
Choose a service date and either a specific start and end time or Anytime. For repeating work, set the recurrence pattern and end condition. Simple Time creates scheduled visits for the series so each occurrence can be tracked separately.
Assigned Workers
Assign one or more workers while creating the work order, or add assignments later. Assigned workers can see the job in their work list and calendar.
After Creating
Once the work order is saved, it appears in the work order list and on the calendar when it has a scheduled visit. Open the work order to update assignments, schedule details, line items, visits, or status.
