Weekly Grid

How to use the weekly timesheet grid to enter and review hours across work orders in Simple Time.

Weekly Grid

The weekly grid is a spreadsheet-style timesheet view that lets you enter and review hours for an entire week at a glance. It is a convenient way to log time if you prefer to fill in your hours at the end of each day or week.

How It Works

The weekly grid shows:

  • Rows for each work order you are assigned to (or all work orders if you are a manager).
  • Columns for each day of the week (Monday through Sunday).
  • Cells where you enter the number of hours worked.

Simply click on a cell and type the hours. Your entries are saved automatically.

Viewing the Grid

Navigate to Timesheets in the sidebar and select the Weekly Grid view. Use the date navigation to move between weeks.

For Managers

Managers can view the weekly grid for any team member. This makes it easy to review hours, spot missing entries, and ensure timesheets are complete before payroll.

To view another team member's grid, select their name from the team member dropdown at the top of the page.

Approved and Confirmed Entries

If your organization uses timesheet approvals, you may see indicators on some cells:

  • * (asterisk) — This entry has been approved by a manager. Workers cannot edit approved entries. If you believe an approved entry is incorrect, contact your manager to make the correction.
  • Lock icon — This entry has been confirmed for payroll and is permanently locked. No one can edit it.

Unapproved entries have no indicator and can be edited freely.

Tips

  • Fill in your timesheet daily to keep your records accurate.
  • If you use clock in/out during the day, those hours will already appear in the grid.
  • Review your weekly totals at the bottom of the grid to catch any discrepancies.
