Import clients, materials, and services into Simple Time using CSV files for quick bulk setup.
Data Import
Simple Time supports importing data via CSV files, making it easy to get up and running quickly or migrate from another system. You can import clients, materials, and service catalog entries in bulk.
What You Can Import
Clients
Import your client list with details such as:
- Client name
- Contact person
- Email address
- Phone number
- Address
Materials
Import your materials catalog with:
- Material name
- Unit of measurement
- Unit cost
Service Catalog
Import your standard services with:
- Service name
- Description
- Price
How to Import
- Go to the section you want to import into (e.g., Clients, Materials, or Service Catalog).
- Click Import or Import CSV.
- Download the CSV template if you need a starting point — this ensures your file has the correct column headers.
- Prepare your CSV file with your data.
- Upload the file.
- Review the preview to make sure your data looks correct.
- Confirm the import.
CSV File Tips
- Use the provided template to ensure your columns match what Simple Time expects.
- Make sure there are no extra blank rows at the end of the file.
- Text fields with commas should be wrapped in double quotes.
- Save your file in UTF-8 encoding to avoid issues with special characters.
After Importing
Once the import is complete, your data will appear in the relevant section of Simple Time. You can review and edit individual records as needed.
If any rows fail to import (for example, due to missing required fields), Simple Time will show you which rows had errors so you can fix them and re-import.
Duplicate Handling
Simple Time will flag potential duplicates during the import preview. You can choose to skip duplicates or import them anyway.
